BEXLEY, Ohio – The #1 Trine University Men's Basketball team rolled to a dominant 85-55 victory over the Capital Comets this afternoon.
Emmanuel Megnanglo led a quartet of double digit scorers for the Thunder with 16. Trine is now 7-0, while Capital falls to 3-3.
Jayce Cusack broke a 2-2 tie two minutes into the contest to kick start a 19-6 run as the Thunder took control early and never looked back.
Fred Garland scored seven of his 13 points in that stretch. A 13-0 run capped by a Cusack triple gave Trine a 34-13 lead with just under seven minutes to play in the half. The Thunder would maintain their 20 point advantage the rest of the half, leading 48-27 at the break.
Trine erased any chance of a Comet comeback as they opened the second half with a 12-3 run to extend their lead to 30 points.

Aidan Smylie connected on triples while Garland scored four more points and handed out one of his four assists to Megnanglo as Trine took full control of the game. The rest of the second half was evenly matched as Coach Miller went deep into the bench.
Logan McKenzie scored nine points in eight minutes off the bench.
Trine shot 35-69 (50.7%) from the floor and 5-14 (35.7%) from beyond the three point line. The Thunder out rebounded Capital 43-32, while forcing 20 turnovers. The Comets shot 17-51 (33.3%) from the floor and 5-23 (21.7%) from three point range.
The Thunder have one game this week, heading to the Badger State to take on Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. The Pointers are 6-0 and received 37 votes in the latest D3hoops.com poll.
