Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Finn Nets Game Winner in Final Minute of Regulation

ANGOLA, Ind. – For the second night in a row, the Trine University men's hockey team lifted themselves to a regulation victory with a late goal. Today, Brendan Finn played hero, scoring to give the team a 2-1 win and the sweep against the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Neither team found any offensive success in the first period of play, combining for just ten shots on goal.

It took most of the second period, but the Thunder finally broke the tie. Just after the finish of a power play, the team continued to work in the offensive zone recording three quick shots that ended in the goal. Kyle DeMarco started the barrage from the far circle, with the rebound from his shot giving Jack Cooper a quick chance from just outside the crease. DeMarco crashed in to collect the second rebound but fired a quick pass instead of another shot. Logan Furstenau was waiting on the backside of the goalie and scored the easy shot.

The Raiders scored a response in the 17th minute of the third period, tying the game with just over three minutes remaining and threatening the arena with extra hockey.

With less than a minute remaining, Sam Antenucci wrestled the puck away from an MSOE skater near the defensive blueline. He moved up the far boards well into the neutral zone. Just before he was tripped up by a defender, he managed to pass the puck to Finn, setting up a breakaway opportunity. The sophomore capitalized with the game winner.

On the other end of the ice Kyle Kozma picked up his second win in as many days. He finished the contest with 20 saves while allowing the one goal.

Trine improves to 7-0-1 and 5-0-1 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association play. They will next play a home-and-home series against Chatham University. The first game is on the road and is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 30.
