ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's volleyball team fell 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in a home Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) match versus Albion College. The loss drops Trine to 7-8 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The Britons of Albion are 10-7 on the year and 1-1 in league action.

The Thunder were in command of set one after scoring five points out of six to claim a 15-12 lead and force Albion into the match's first timeout. Catherine Dobies and Francesca Queary each had an ace during the scoring run. The Britons clawed their way to the lead at 20-19 thanks to a block that caused Trine to call for time. They would do the same a few points later to try to stay alive in the set, but ultimately it was Albion coming away with the 25-22 win. Cassidy Victor led the way with four kills in the first.

Set number two was competitive for the Thunder as well with the team hitting .407 with 13 kills and just two errors. Unfortunately, the score would repeat itself 25-22 at set's end. Albion scored five of the first six points in the second and at 11-6, Trine called a timeout to regroup. The break would be effective as repeated kills by Dobies and Olivia Jolliffe would bring the score back to even at 17-17. A timeout called by the Britons set them up to take the second set 25-22.

Albion drew first blood in the third set with five straight points to make it 13-6 early. A block assist by Queary and Jolliffe brought Trine back to within two at 14-12, but another scoring run by the Britons put the set out of reach. The Thunder battled until the end and forced Albion to call a timeout to secure the sweep with the final being 25-19.

Dobies neared a double-double with 10 kills and nine digs, a team-best in both categories. Rachel Campbell was able to match her with nine digs in the backrow. Setter Anna Zellers paced the squad with 18 assists.

The homestand continues for Trine on Wednesday, October 4 when the Kalamazoo College Hornets visit Hershey Hall. It will be the team's annual Pink Out match. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
