GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Trine University women's volleyball team finished off their weekend of competition with a win and a loss. The Thunder started the day by handing Olivet their second loss of the season by three sets to one, before dropping their second match to Alma by the same score.

The Comets came out strong in the first set of the match handing the Thunder a loss by the score of 25-18. Spurred on by the defeat Trine came out swinging the rest of the match taking the next three for the win. The third set, in particular, was perhaps the best the team has played all season as they defeated Olivet by the score of 25-6 behind a staggering .609 team hitting percentage.

Sophomore Madison Munger (Indianapolis / Franklin Central) led the offense in the match finishing with 16 kills. Freshman Alyvia Sundheimer (Franklin / Franklin Community) made her presence known, finishing with a season-high 10 kills and the second-best hitting percentage on the team with a .261.

Both sophomore Sarah Toles (Kendallville / East Noble) and senior Morgan Harris (Crown Point / Merrillville) anchored the middle coming away with four blocks apiece. Defensively the team shared the love with five members of the squad finishing with nine or more digs.

Against the Scots the Thunder found themselves evenly matched with both of the first two sets requiring extra points to decide a winner. The teams split the close opening stanzas to enter the third tied at 1-1. Alma would take the final two to come away with the 3-1 victory in the match.

Three members of Trine finished the contest with double-digit kill totals. Freshman Kendra Nicley (Lebanon / Western Boone) led the way with 16, while Munger came in second with 13 of her own. Senior Shannon Scott (Vicksburg, Mich. / Vicksburg) rounded out the trio finishing with 11 kills and a team-best .321 hitting percentage.

Scott would also finish second on the team with five blocks in the match, while Sundheimer would come in first with six. Defensively two members of the team came away with over 20 digs, Nicley finished with 21 while sophomore Lindsey DeCamp (New Haven / New Haven) led the way with 29.
