Zak Yousef was named assistant coach for the Trine University skating programs in July of 2025.
“I’m very excited to have Zak back at Trine,” said Head Coach Rachel Franchock, “He was instrumental in developing our team culture during his tenure as a student-athlete. His Passion for collegiate skating will support our program’s growth and success in the future.”
Yousef, a 2023 graduate of Trine, has spent the last two years gaining valuable coaching experience in multiple arenas. He has served as the Associate Head Coach of Team Precision Edge SST where he was responsible for the on-ice development of four synchronized skating teams. While there he coached the intermediate team to the program’s best finish at the 2025 Midwestern Championships and a first-place finish at the 2024 Tri-State Championships.
In addition, he has served as an assistant coach of the Miami (Ohio) University Open-Collegiate synchronized skating team. During this past season he helped lead the team to victory at the 2025 Midwestern Conference Championship and three first-place finishes. He was directly responsible for team tryouts while collaborating on theme selection, dress design, choreography and program development.
In early 2024, he was one of just two synchronized skating coaches in the United Stats to be selected for the coach education program hosted by the Synchronized Skating Technical and Development Committee. The program allowed him to learn from U.S. Figure Skating officials on how best to curate programs, develop skaters and develop teams to reach their full potential. He now serves as a member of the Synchronized Skating Technical Development Committee.
During his time at Trine, Yousef was a four-year member of the skating program. He was a part of multiple sectional championships for the synchronized skating team and was an integral part of the Intercollegiate Team qualifying for nationals in 2020 and 2022.
