Mackenna Kelly

Kelly is set to begin her second year leading the Thunder women's golf program in 2025-26.

In Kelly's first year the Thunder posted their best MIAA finish since 2007-08 with a second place finish. Trine won both days of the MIAA Spring Final, their first wins at an MIAA tournament since 2015-16. Rylee Smith and Grace Dubec earned first team All-MIAA status, this marked the first time the women's golf team earned multiple first team selections. Natalie Kulka added second team honors. Smith took three medalist honors and Dubec added another, the four medalist honors are the program record for a single season. Dubec and Smith teamed up for five MIAA Golfer of the Week awards, another program record.

Kelly had previously served as the Trine men's and women's golf assistant under former head coach Noah Warren, who recently moved into an administrative role within the Trine athletics department as an Assistant Athletic Director for Operations. Her role within the program included developing coaching strategies, provide guidance and support to student-athletes during practice and competition, and maintaining accurate records of player statistics to evaluate performance.

Kelly graduated from Trine in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and played for the Thunder from 2017-20. The fall of 2019 saw Trine finish fourth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) standings thanks to a third-place finish at the MIAA Fall Final. Individually, Kelly was named a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar in the 2019-20 season.

Along with her experience as a golfer at Trine, Kelly has also served as a coach at the high school level. In 2022, she served as the assistant coach for the Angola High School women's golf team. She was also a teacher at Angola Middle School from 2021-23.
