Alex Trevino begins his first season with the Thunder men's basketball staff in the 2025-26 season. Trevino joins the Thunder basketball after spending the past six seasons as an assistant coach with Wilmington (Ohio) College.
"We are excited to have Coach Trevino join our inaugural staff," said Head CoachÂ
Jon VanderWal, "His experience as a full-time assistant at the Division III level at Wilmington will be extremely valuable to our program"
While at Wilmington, Trevino helped the Quakers to their first Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament win in six seasons with a 62-58 win over the #15 Heidelberg Student Princes. The win was one of six ranked wins for the Quakers in Trevino's time. The Quakers played giant slayer in 2023-24, knocking off Mount Union twice. The Purple Raiders were ranked #4 and #13 in those contests.
Trevino served as the Quakers reserve team head coach and was the travel coordinator for the program. He also developed individual skill development plans for each player and worked as the team's academic success coach.
Prior to his time at Wilmington, Trevino served as an assistant at Solano Community College in Fairfield, California. Alex also has experience at the camps level working as an instructor at Point Guard University from 2017-22 and as the Director of Basketball at Camp Laurel, a role he currently holds.
