Men's Tennis Falls in Semifinals of MIAA Tournament

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Trine University men's tennis team fell out of the 2026 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament presented by Collegiate Credit Union with a 4-0 loss to their hosts from Kalamazoo College.

The Hornets won the first point of the day with two of the doubles matches. Landon Bassett and Asher Monson were leading in the No. 3 match 5-2 when the doubles point was called for the home side. The doubles match went unfinished due to MIAA postseason rules.

Kalamazoo won the first, third and fourth singles matches to finish the dual with the win. In the losses, Leyton Byler forced a tiebreaker in the first set of the No. 4 match before falling with scores of 6-7(2-7), 0-6. Sammy Yin won his first set in the No. 2 match and was winning the third set 2-1 when the dual was called for the Hornets.

 The semifinal loss gives the team a 15-7 overall record for the 2025-26 season.
