NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Trine University women's tennis team bowed out of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament, falling to three-seeded Saint Mary's (Ind.) College by the score of 4-0.
The Belles took the doubles point for the match by winning two of the three matches and leaving the third unfinished.
Alexis Maloney and
Emilee Bassett were tied 4-4 in the No. 2 match when the doubles matches were called.
Saint Mary's won the No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 singles matches to secure the dual victory and end the match early. Maloney had taken the opening set of the No. 4 match, 6-3, before the dual was decided.
Elina Locane also had a lead in the No. 1 match, taking the first set 6-4.
The team finishes the season 12-7 overall, the second most wins in the program's NCAA Division III history.
