ANGOLA, Ind. – Trine University has named Chase Munroe as the next head coach of its men's ACHA D2 hockey team.
"I could not be more excited to join the Trine athletics community," says Munroe, "The culture within the athletic department and the family-oriented feeling from staff has made this an easy decision."
Munroe comes to Trine after serving in multiple roles for Miami University of Ohio hockey programs. August of 2019 he has served as a head coach for the club hockey program. Since 2019 he has served as an undergraduate assistant coach for the varsity hockey team at Miami. Finally, he has served as a volunteer youth coach for the Miami RedHawks Youth Hockey program since 2016.
"As a coach, I will strive every day to make these young men into the best version of themselves," continued Munroe, "I look forward to continuing the winning tradition of Trine's club hockey program."
Munroe graduated from Miami of Ohio with a degree in Sport Leadership and Management in the spring of 2020. While at Miami he played for the RedHawks' varsity hockey team for two seasons as a goaltender.
The Thunder ACHA D2 hockey team has qualified for three straight national tournament appearances in their first three seasons. This past season they finished with a 19-12-1 record, picking up two wins at their regional tournament to qualify for nationals again.
