GENEVA, OHIO -- After qualifying for the finals in both the 800-meter and 1500-meter runs following the first two days of the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship, sophomore Trine University track runner Evie Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) finished eighth in both events to become a two-time All-American on the final day of competition.
Bultemeyer began the day with the championship race of the 1500m and posted a time of 4:33.67 to place eighth overall.
About an hour later, Bultemeyer competed in her second race of the day, this time the finals of the 800m and crossed the finish line in eighth place with a time of 2:12.23.
Bultemeyer becomes the first Trine runner to earn All-American honors during the outdoor season since Amanda Portis did so in the 10,000-meter run in 2003 when she finished as the NAIA National Champion in the event. Bultemeyer becomes the first Trine runner to earn All-American status during the outdoor season since Trine became members of the NCAA.
