ANGOLA, IND.-- Trine's track and field teams combined for 10 first-place finishes in the Jon and Carol Liechty Alumni Invitational, held Friday at Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center.
Trisha King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) led the way for the Thunder with two-first-place finishes. King won the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 1:01.80 and came in first in the One-Mile Run with a time of 5:27.73. Luke Fimreite (McCordsville, Ind./Mount Vernon) matched King's first-place finish in the 400 Meter Dash, winning with a time of 52.41 seconds.
Andrew Bunting (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) won the Weight Throw with a toss of 15.35 meters (50'-4"). Jenn Steyer (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton) placed second on the women's side with a throw of 12.56 meters (41'-2.5"). Derek Scott (Niles, Mich./Niles) placed second in the Shot Put, while Sloan Davis (Charlotte, Mich./Olivet) placed third for the women.
Kyle Gater won the 800 Meter Dash with a time of 2:10.68, and added a fourth-place finish in the One-Mile Run. James Gregory (Warsaw, Ind./Tippecanoe Valley) added a win in the 60 Meter Hurdles, while Lincoln Frey (Pettisville, Ohio/Pettisville) was first in the Pole Vault.
Each team was victorious in the 4 x 400 Relay.
Ariel McCoy (Garrett, Ind./Garrett) and Courtney Forsythe (West Mansfield, Ohio/Benjamin Logan) placed second and third respectively in the 3000 Meter Run. Austin Ganger (Mishawaka, Ind./Mishawaka) placed third for the men in the same event.
Notable alumni performances included Dustin Stutzman winning the Shot Put with a throw of 15.37 meters (50'-5.13"). Kyle Mills was the top alumni runner in the One-Mile Run with a time of 5:21.23. The Trine track and field teams would like to thank all alumni for participating and Jon and Carol Liechty for their involvement with the event.
The teams return to action next Saturday, Mar. 1 at the Calvin Indoor Championships.
