Marek Kolar joined the Thunder tennis programs as an assistant during the summer of 2016.
Kolar brings experience from a remarkable and illustrious playing career to Trine tennis. Kolar earned All-America honors four times during his collegiate career, which spanned from 1997-2000 at Northwood University. During that time he also earned four all-conference honors. Kolar led his team to four Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championships, as well as a fourth-place finish in the 1998 NCAA Division II National Championships.
This past summer, Kolar won the 40-and-over International Seniors Tennis Championships of Czech Republic. He is currently ranked 121st in singles in the world in the 40-and-over age bracket. Kolar's playing experience since the conclusion of his collegiate career has also included club competition in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic and with R.C. Sport Leipzig in Germany.
Kolar is beginning his eighth season as a professor in Trine University's Ketner School of Business this fall. He holds a B.B.A from Northwood University; a M.A. from Western Michigan University; and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
