Dan Callahan launched the Thunder wrestling program in 2004. During his 10 seasons, the Thunder have compiled a 70-100-1 record, including winning the Mid-States Conference title in 2009-2010, as well as being NCAA Midwest regional runner-up in 2009 and 2010. Callahan also has been named the Mid-State Conference Coach of the Year in 2006-2007 and 2009-2010.
Under Callahan, the program has produced a three-time NCAA All-American and 14 Academic All-Americans. During the 2014-15 season, Callahan guided a pair of wrestlers to appearances in the NCAA Division III National Championships. Callahan has led his wrestlers to numerous national appearances and All-America honors.
Entering the 2016-17 season, his career record, including 19 years as a high school wrestling coach, is 339-216-9. Before joining Trine, Callahan coached at the high school level for 23 years, including 19 as a head wrestling coach.
Callahan is a graduate of Rochester High School, Rochester, Ind., and Alma College, Alma, Mich. Coach Callahan resides in Fremont with his wife, Cindy, a fourth-grade teacher, and has two children, Megan and Kyle.
