Along the way, Trine earned three wins over ranked opponents in finishing with a 19-8 overall record. The team's overall mark was its best since joining NCAA Division III. The Thunder placed third in the conference for the second-straight year and produced two All-MIAA performers.

In his first season at the helm of the Thunder program, Gould guided the team to one of the best turnarounds in school-history. The team's 15-10 record was a nine-win improvement from the previous season, and the best one-season turnaround at the school in 20 years. The team's nine MIAA wins were good enough to tie for fourth in the conference. The Thunder was led by All-MIAA Second Team selection Whitney Shaffer.
